
About Dr. Kyung Chul Kam
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIOS
Born in 1943 in Fukuoka, Japan, he returned to Korea following its liberation and spent his childhood in Haman, Gyeongsangnam-do. Later, he moved to Seoul, where he pursued his studies through diligence and perseverance, completing his high school, university, and graduate school while working. He was subsequently awarded an honorary doctorate in missiology from Kosin University, an honorary doctorate in media and public relations from Baekseok University, and an honorary doctorate in anthropology from Azusa Pacific University in the United States.
EXPERTISE
From his university days, he harbored the aspirations of a young entrepreneur and led a life of continuous challenge. In his 30s, he ventured into the advertising industry, pioneering Korea’s first innovative outdoor advertising sector during the 1988 Seoul Olympics. His contributions to the advancement of the advertising industry were recognized in 1996 when he was awarded the Order of Civil Merit, the Mongnyeon Medal.
In 2000, he assumed the presidency of CTS Christian TV, which was on the brink of financial collapse. He successfully resolved a 45-billion-won debt crisis and labor disputes, restoring the station to normalcy and pioneering a new era in media evangelism for the Korean church. In 2004, he established the Noryangjin Multimedia Center, laying the foundation for media-based Christian outreach.
Together with his lifelong companion, Deaconess Yang Hee Park, he raised three children who have distinguished themselves as an educator, an entrepreneur, and a pastor. He has also served in numerous leadership roles, including President of the National Breakfast Prayer Meeting, President of the World Korean Christian Broadcasting Association, and Director of the Korea Cable TV Association. His significant contributions have been recognized with accolades such as the Order of Civil Merit, the Mongnyeon Medal, the Proud Christian Leader Award, and the Grand Prize for Broadcasting in Korea.
PUBLICATION
In 2023, he founded the National Movement for Low Birthrate Countermeasures, taking the lead in raising public awareness on this pressing issue. In 2024, he further institutionalized these efforts by establishing the nonprofit organization Happy Birth, Strong Future, actively collaborating with the government and local authorities to combat the declining birthrate. Through publications and public discourse, he continues to drive nationwide awareness and participation in this critical cause.
